SKINNY NINNY DESIGNS:   Designer

Hey you. Nenen here. Sixteen years young. Skinny, fangirly, nerdy.

I guess my love for all this started around my third year in high school (2007), when we were studying Visual Basic in Technology. Since then I knew I loved computers and programming. Around summer of 2008, my friends and I decided to make a website for our class. That was the time I started learning Photoshop and studying HTML codes. I hopped from design site to design site, trying to learn what I could. Until now I’m proud to say 90% of what I know about web design and coding has been self-taught.

I started blogging around August 2008. It wasn’t a major achievement, actually, because my blog never really boasted excellent designs and I rarely updated it. But it introduced me to Blogger, and the world of blogging, so somehow it opened doors for me.

I dunno how to describe it; I just kept learning and learning. From the simple HTML lessons of our Technology teacher during senior year, to the different tutorials I read from the net, I paid attention. I loved the subject more. I grew passionate about it.

Personally I learned that I like minimalistic designs better. Monochromatic themes, simple layouts, the works. I take “simplicity is beauty” seriously. Haha.

Around this year (2009) though, I took a liking to fansites. I am an avid follower of some, being a fangirl myself, so I don’t know.. I just became fond of making fansite designs. (Which are colorful, unlike my personal sites. Lol.) So when I met Odette (online), who wanted to start a Taylor Swift fansite but didn’t know much about layouting and coding, I grabbed the chance to help her. Pretty soon I got “hired” to make other fansite layouts. I got busy, but it made me happy.

But yeah, I emphasize that – it made me busy. I’m a college student now, so it’s getting hard for me to find time to do layouts and designs. But then, I also don’t want to give them up because I love doing them. I think that’s the main reason why I got a domain and started this design site. Since I spend so much time and effort to webdesign, why shouldn’t I start earning from it?

So yeah. Now I’m nenen, maker of simple layouts, owner of a design site. I still consider myself an amateur though, because I never learned it professionally and mostly I just tweak. So…I’m a “self-taught amateur tweaker.” Whatever that is. Lol.

I hate describing myself so I’m gonna stop now. If you still want more, follow where I lurk.
